1/23/2024 0 Comments Office christmas wall decorTo combat this, consider adding unexpected patterns through wallpaper to add character and fun to the space. When you have a workspace with plain white walls, it can get boring and prevent you from feeling excited or motivated when working. Your space will still feel clean and clutter-free while adding beautiful accents and decor. You can use the rule of three and keep things simple by pairing a candle with a picture frame and then using a small plant on the opposite side. They give you extra space on the wall, can match any design style, and are simple to install and take down. Install Floating ShelvesĬonsider floating shelves when you have items like candles, plants, and picture frames that you want to display but have limited desk space. You can even make it subtle by using a painting with light blues and greens instead of a bold color and achieve the same outcome! 5. It’s a great way to turn a boring space into an interesting and unique area to get your work done. An abstract painting with orange, for example, introduces the bold color and allows you to use throw pillows, blankets, and coffee mugs of the same color to tie everything together. Whether you’re working from a cubical, a shared workspace, or at home, this is a great option.Ĭhoose a painting that has interesting and unexpected colors, and then use one of the colors to add additional accents and decor to match. Add Color Through a PaintingĬonsider using a large painting to spice things up if your space lacks color or personality. You’ll love having a dark and calming color to look at during the day, and the additional accents will make it even better. The dark color will add a calming element to the space, and the neutral accents balance it out and prevent it from feeling too moody. If your walls are white, consider a dark blue or dark green color paired with tan or neutral candles, lamps, or decor. This is the perfect option for those who work from home or have an entire room to themselves as a workspace.Ĭreating an accent wall draws your eyes and attention and allows you to create contrast through color and texture. If you have the freedom to change and update your office space, consider creating an accent wall. If you’re crafty, you can even make your own out of wood or any other material that adds texture and interest to your workspace. Try using a glass window and a dry-erase marker to keep up with your important dates and to-do lists, or use a large black-and-white calendar to put a chic twist on keeping up with your dates. To make it interesting and keep your space unique, you can choose to use an unexpected calendar and have fun with it. If you have deadlines and tasks that need to get done throughout the month, it’s important to keep up with a calendar. If you have a large space to work with, you can choose a modest size clock and add other elements around it to compliment or contrast with the materials. This prevents you from spending any money on additional decor while still adding a fun and unexpected element. If you have a small area to work with, choose a large clock to cover the wall. It’s functional because you’ll likely need to keep up with the time throughout the day, and it’s a great way to show your personality and style.įinding an antique clock at a thrift store or ordering a specific style online can bring your design style to your workspace. Add a Unique ClockĪdding a unique clock is always a great idea for a workspace. Keeping it simple will help you relax and stay on budget! Here are a few ideas to get you started. This prevents the area from feeling cluttered, overwhelming, or stressful. If you have a shared workspace or a small room, consider using two or three items instead of filling in every empty spot. If you have a clutter-free and relaxing office, you’re more likely to get your work done and stay productive instead of feeling tired or unmotivated when lunch rolls around.īefore you start decorating, it’s important to remember that in small spaces, less is more. Whether it’s a home office, a cubical, or a high-rise overlooking the city, it’s important to make the space feel comfortable and specific to your needs.Īdding wall decor is a great way to enhance your workspace and keep you motivated to clock in every morning. Your office is likely where you spend most of your time during the week.

Now, it seems that people put a portfolio together, put together a promo and then start looking for a rep as if that is the next step in the process. Not to long ago, I think that photographers began to look for a rep once they were too busy to handle all of the work that they had coming in. I think that in the same way that a photographer needs to put together an amazing promo piece to sell themselves to an art director, they’re going to have to do the same thing for reps too. I’m sure that it was difficult for reps to keep up even then, but now there are just too many photographers trying to get the attention of reps. The two things that have made life more difficult is that everything has gone digital, which means more work to go through and edit for my photographers and tons more email coming in from all directions.ĪPE: It wasn’t always this way right? Before the web blew up people had to write you a letter, send you a book or come see you right? It’s not intentional but I’ve gotten to the point where I need to prioritize my work, and I don’t have time to get everything done that I have to get done. No matter what, I basically feel like I have to be rude at some point along the way. Sometimes the response is angry, but most of the time they write back with more questions and eventually I have to be rude and not write back because I just don’t have time. I get them all the time, but I just don’t have the time to respond, even when I find the work interesting.ĪPE: When you brush someone off because you can’t take anyone on at the moment but tell them the work is great do they email you back angry, because you think their work is good but you won’t represent them anyway? Recently a photographer in LA with some nice work emailed me after getting zero response from the agents he’d been contacting and I started to wonder what it takes, if you’ve got good work, to land an agent, so I called up Deborah Schwartz ( ), an LA agent I used to work with and asked her a few questions.ĪPE: Do you get inquiries from photographers looking for a rep? One of the top questions photographers ask me is “how do I get an agent” but since I’ve never been a photographer I really have no clue how you get an agent. 1/23/2024 0 Comments Jetboil vs pocket rocketIf you carry your fuel separately, there’s enough room left in the nesting pot to stow a lighter, igniter, or pack of matches. To do this, the fuel canister snaps into place under the lid, the stand folds together and sits at the bottom of the pot, and the burner has a fold-over flame-control arm to tuck in next to the fuel canister. As the name implies, the components “stash” inside the cook pot - burner, fuel canister (100 g), and, if you want it, the stand. Featuresīeyond the svelte weight, Jetboil advertises a couple additional features it says make the Stash stove system a standout among the competition.įirst, the Jetboil Stash works as a complete nesting system. I foresee keeping this for storing the burner in off months to prevent scratches or other damage. The system also includes a nice soft carrying sack for the titanium burner. Here’s the weight breakdown by component: And while the added plastic tripod weighs just 1 ounce, Jetboil acknowledged it will be the first thing sacrificed among hardcore backpackers. But the system also comes with a handy folding, three-legged fuel canister stand. Jetboil’s numbers check out - 7.1 ounces - for the stove and pot and lid. We received an early sample of the Stash to test. The takeaway: At 7.1 ounces, the Stash comes in a full 40% lighter than Jetboil’s next-lightest stove system. For that small ounce penalty, hikers and campers receive a titanium burner and a 0.8L aluminum cook pot with a lid. Marking the brand’s “lightest backpacking stove system ever,” the Jetboil Stash adds a scant 7.1 ounces to a pack. Today, Jetboil hopes to change that with its new Stash stove system. And often, a stove and cook system can be one of the first conveniences to go (in favor of cold, dehydrated meals in a bag and ready-to-eat options). I prefer the Giga Power over the Pocket Rocket because you can get a wind deflector ($10) that makes it more efficient so I don't have to hold a Gazetteer around it on windy days.Jetboil shaved a whopping 40% in weight off its lightest stove to produce its most pack-friendly cook system ever.īackpacking purists go to great lengths to cut every ounce possible. That includes cutting excess pack straps, sawing down toothbrush handles, and excising every nonessential convenience. My pots are non-stick and I usually can just wipe them out with a cloth. The cost of the accessories for the JB is just too much for me. If you have a good pot set (I paid about $50 for my MSR two-pot set which has withstood plenty of cooking and one very bad bike drop so it's now dented), you can cook almost anything (you don't need a skillet). JB, the PR is the better bang for the buck imo. Use the stove for the evening meal about 5 nights (most of the evening cooking is over the campfire unless it's pissing down rain) and hot water for washing up. Boil water for hot cereal and coffee in the morning, as well as a bit of hot water for washing the dishes and ourselves. I do a lot of (good) cooking when we camp, and I use about 1 1/2 canisters. So for the added bulk, weight and price am I really getting a superior cook system over my current setup? Oh, and the Jetboil accessories, gulp, cha Ching.Ĭlick to expand. My b/f and I do a two week moto-camping trip every year and I bring two 8oz cans of fuel for use with my Snow Peak Giga-Power (very similar to the PR). I have never had it happen yet but I am very careful when it's in use. I have seen other campers with JB and it all looks pretty impressive with a roaring flame but as a solo camper,do I really need that? I am not a big cooker, coffe, oatmeal, steamed veggies, soup ect, but I would like to get into more camp cooking.Īt D2D everybody had a JB and I was a bit of a wiener with my PR, but it's served me pretty well so far.Īm I really getting that much more with a JB? Is it worth the money? The only complaint I have about my PR is that pots are very slidey on the burner, you must be very careful as the pot can come off very easily. My PR packs up super small and tucks very neatly into my cookset with lighter. I have an opportunity to pick up a Jetboil on sale but it looks so much bigger and bulkier than my current pocket rocket that I have been using for years. 1/23/2024 0 Comments My shattered life movieDirector Jason Bourque keeps the action moving at an enjoyably quick pace and he’s aided by a cast who keeps the action grounded in reality. This is a film that celebrates everything that we love about Lifetime. Enjoying a Lifetime film is all about embracing the melodrama and this is a film that cries out for a hug. We watch them for the infidelity and the dangerous men who have secrets and the women who make one mistake and then have to spend the entire movie dealing with the consequences. I mean, that’s why we watch Lifetime films. Sounds pretty melodramatic, right? Well, I supposed it is but that’s kind of the point. He’s got his own reasons for specifically targeting Laurel and her husband and it turns out that he’ll stop at nothing to accomplish his sinister goals…. It turns out that our Lord Byron-obsessed stalker is more than just the typical type of obsessive who regularly shows up in Lifetime movies. Soon, he’s not only stalking Laurel but he’s also pursuing a relationship with Laurel’s sister (Marnie Mahannah). Then, eventually, he become the type of stalker who breaks into houses and leaves behind roses and poems by Lord Byron. He’s the type of guy who shows up at your office unannounced and tries to guilt you into spending the day with him. At first, Laurel’s one night stand doesn’t seem like he’s capable of taking the hint. Of course, this is a Lifetime movie so it’s not going to be that simple. Laurel just wants to return home to her husband, James (Jason Cermak), and move on with her life. That morning, when she leaves his hotel room, she makes it clear that she doesn’t want to see him again. (If you’re wondering why I’m not telling you the man’s name, that’s because he uses several over the course of the film). One thing leads to another and Laurel ends up spending the night with this man. She meets a handsome and charming man (Matthew McCaull). Oddly, the hotel somehow screwed up her reservation and, as a result, she’s been separated from her colleagues. That’s what Laurel Briggs (Kate Villanova) does at the beginning of My Wife’s Secret Life. How about having a one night stand with a near-stranger? But the doubt and the pain still lingers. You say that you’re giving him a second chance. Even if you’re not sure that you’ll ever be able to trust him again, you do love him. You’ve got a successful career of your own. He’s got a successful career as an attorney. The fact of the matter is that you’ve got two kids with him. Now, obviously, the easiest thing to say is that you should just dump his ass but reality is always a bit more complicated. So, let’s say that your husband has cheated on you. 1/23/2024 0 Comments Flipbook creator for my website
These cover the whole stage of progress in between beginning to mark-make and, later on, writing words. One of the best of these in the early days are pre-writing patterns. There are distinct stages that children go through, and there are many strategies to help them on the way. Variation : Play other matching games such as ‘go fish’ with the cards.Learning to write is a huge process that takes many years.Students watch dice patterns A, then dice patterns B, then play memory using matching cards Students watch exploring patterns 3 then build on their patterns developed in task 2, changing shape, size, position and quantity. Students watch ‘exploring patterns 1’ and ‘exploring patterns 2’ and create patterns with missing parts and AB patterns. The repeating core of a pattern can be described using letters to support moving from the specific to being more generalisable. To identify a pattern, we need to see the core repeated over and over and over again (about three times to be able to trust that we have found a regularity). then draw pictures of the different ways they organised items. Students watch the ‘ Sorting 1’ video to learn how to play. Being able to notice various attributes within the same collection also promotes flexibility and creativity in thinking – critical aspects of mathematics and mathematical thinking. Sorting and classifying tasks help students to develop a range of thinking skills and build the foundations for reasoning, communicating and problem-solving. When we describe a 3-part pattern as ABC we are supporting students to make connections between patterns and algebra.įull instructions on how to use each of these tasks, including materials, related tasks and learning intentions are included in the resource, available for download on this page. Algebraic thinking, like patterning, is foundational to mathematical thinking as it provides the language and structure to represent ideas, solve problems, model situations and prove generalisations. Patterning can also include exploring mathematical structures and leads into algebraic thinking.
